Manvadi Tithis are the sacred days on which creation restarted after each Pralaya (cosmic dissolution). These Tithis mark the beginning of a new Manvantara, an era ruled by a Manu, the progenitor of human beings. In a single Kalpa (a day of Brahma), fourteen Manvadi Tithis occur, corresponding to the fourteen Manus who govern each Manvantara. We are at the Vaivasvata Manvantara at the moment.
